Exclusive: Go Behind-the-Scenes of ‘Heartstopper’ Season 2 With These Never Before Seen Photos

Not only is Heartstopper the totally fun and fluffy show that we all wish was real, but we honestly would love nothing more than to visit the set and hang out with the cast as they bring the iconic graphic novel series to life. And while we can’t just hop on a plane to the UK to visit them right this second (please, Netflix!) at least we’re getting the next best thing!

Cosmopolitan got the ultimate behind the scenes look at the cast filming season 2 of Heartstopper and yes, it’s just as amazing as it looks on-screen. Not only did we get some special moments in iconic settings like the Truham, Higgs, and even Nick’s bedroom, but the cast got to film in France. And yes, we got some exclusive looks at it all along with some fun info that all true superfans need to know!

Oh, and there might be some spoilers here, so make sure the finish the season first!

“The cinematographer hand painted camera filters and used them on some of the Charlie and Nick kissing montage to add more texture, colour and vibrancy to the scenes and visually add to the joy of being in love,” Netflix revealed.

If you thought filming in Paris was super easy, it actually “required a lot of costumes. The main casts’ costumes were transported in 7 large wardrobe boxes and 6 full suitcases.” Talk about a dream wardrobe!

Even with all those costumes, that wasn’t even the hardest part about filming in Paris. “The cast and crew had two mornings filming at the Eiffel Tower, and had to get there at 6am to go up before any members of the public were allowed access,” Netflix said. “There is a three-tier system of elevators that needs to be navigated to get to the viewing platforms, and we had to squeeze the cast inside the lifts alongside crates of pastries and fruit that were also heading up to the cafes.”

“In his cinema date with Elle, Tao’s hair style was inspired by the main character of the film “In The Mood For Love”, which is one of Tao’s favourite films. The poster for the film features in his bedroom in Season 2.”

Of course, Heartstopper creator Alice Oseman was also on set and wrote all the episodes for season 2. She continues to inspire the cast and crew, adding her flair to different things around the set including inspiring special posters and her books making an appearance throughout the season including the book buying scene in the Paris bookstore.

It was also her idea to feature “Seven” by Taylor Swift in the soundtrack as it “was a perfect track for Tara and Darcy’s Season 2 storyline.” And while it wasExecutive Producer Patrick Walters who “wrote a letter to Taylor Swift’s team outlining the scene and the significance of the track,” we definitely have to shout out Alice for the idea (and obviously everything Heartstopper)!

Heartstopper season 2 is currently available on Netflix.
