Harry Styles made an impression at the 2023 Grammys from the event’s beginning to its end. The musician showed up in a glittering checkered jumpsuit by EgonLab at the Feb. 5 show, and midway through the night, he delivered a performance of “As It Was” in a shiny silver ensemble. He was also nominated for record of the year, best pop solo performance, song of the year, and best music video for “As It Was,” and took home the awards for album of the year and best pop vocal album for “Harry’s House.”
“I’ve been so, so inspired by every artist in this category with me,” he said in his acceptance speech. “I’ve listened to every artist in this category when I’m alone . . . It’s so important for us to remember that there’s no such thing as best in music,” he continued. “I don’t think any of us sit in the studio making decisions based on what is gonna get us one of these. This is so kind.”
He has been nominated for nine Grammys in his career thus far, and prior to 2023 he had won one — for best pop solo performance for “Watermelon Sugar” in 2021. Last year was a big one for Styles, with the release of “Harry’s House,” his third album as a solo artist, in May. He also starred in two movies, “Don’t Worry Darling” and “My Policeman,” in September and October of that year. He’s also currently on tour and even ripped his pants during a January show — though of course, he handled it like the pro he is.
