In case you were craving more Prince Harry content, you’re in luck, as his new limited docuseries Heart of Invictus just hit Netflix! The show follows the Duke of Sussex at the 2022 Invictus Games in The Hague, which is an adaptive sporting event he created for wounded, injured, and sick servicemen and women. In the first episode of the series, we get a glimpse of Harry and Meghan Markle‘s involvement in the event as well as the international contestants who took part in the games.
During his introductory interview, Harry made a sweet comment about his young kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. “My name’s Harry,” he said in the confessional-style sit-down. “On any given day, I’m a dad of two under three-year-olds, got a couple of dogs, I’m a husband, I’m founding patron of Invictus Games Foundation. There’s lots of hats one wears, but I believe today is all about Invictus.”
Harry—who is a veteran himself, as he served in the British military from 2005 to 2015—took a hike with some of the Invictus athletes in California. He strolled alongside British Army veterans, fathers, and former Invictus Games competitors David Wiseman and J.J. Chalmers. David had a heart-to-heart with Harry about serving while his wife was pregnant and how he was impacted after being shot in Iraq.
“When I was a soldier, that meant the world to me. And then once I was wounded, how do you define yourself then?” David said as footage of his 2016 Invictus Games win played on screen. J.J. also told Harry, “Invictus was the best week of my life, and that lives on stronger than ever. To feel like a rockstar for that week, to have the red carpet rolled out for us, that’s what you did, isn’t it?”
As he hiked with David and J.J., Harry made a subtle nod to Archie and Lilibet with his Dad Hat™. The khaki-colored cap reads “Papa Bear”—a nickname that Harry revealed Archie gave him—and we can’t get over the cuteness. 🥹
In a 2022 interview with People, Harry admitted he wants to be open with his children about his time in the military.
“That I am grateful for every experience I had in and out of my uniform. That I learned how to be in true service for others. That finding your purpose is one of the most gratifying experiences. And that working hard should be fulfilling and rewarding at the same time,” Harry told the outlet, referring to what he would want to share with his kids.
