Wondering Who Mary Is From ‘Ginny & Georgia?’ You’re Not Alone

Season 2 of Ginny & Georgia has given fans a lot of surprises. From secret reveals to the major consequences of Georgia’s actions, the stakes have never been higher for our Wellsbury crew. But even after *that* explosive finale left fans asking what’ll happen next, another question was also top of mind: Who is Mary?? Chances are that if you’re here, well, you’re wondering the same thing. Here’s the meaning behind one of the show’s biggest mysteries.

Wait, when was Mary mentioned on Ginny & Georgia?

If you’ve already binged the new season, then you might be a little confused. If you go back to episode 3 of season 2 (at 42:21 to be exact), Ginny mentions Mary to Georgia after they get into a fight. “We’re all such a happy family. You, me, Paul, Austin, Mary.”

Georgia freaks out over the mention, while Paul asks, “Who’s Mary?” Georgia doesn’t really answer him and runs out of the room to calm down in her car.

Who is Mary then?!

Well, you actually know Mary very well! Mary is Georgia’s birth name before she changed it. We initially find this out in season 1, when Georgia’s sister comes to visit and calls her by her birth name. We also see a flashback to when she meets the Blood Eyes in the show’s pilot episode. At the 13:30 mark of season 1 episode 1, Georgia stumbles on them after she runs away from home at age 14. When one of the members ask for her name, she looks at a nearby sign showing the state of Georgia and gets inspired to use that going forward.

Does Paul ever find out who Mary is?

Sort of! In the season finale, Georgia admits to (almost) all of the wild things from her past in order to learn if she can safely stay in Wellsbury. While she doesn’t outright mention that Mary used to be her name, Paul still knows everything else, so it’s only a matter of time before he probably figures it out.
