This look ups the ante on the classic butterfly braid with triangle-parted stitch braids that feed into two gorgeous braided buns. 1. Prep a clean slate. Before you get these braids done, you’ll want to rid any old buildup from your roots with a strong clarifying shampoo. Yes, it’s drying (so deep-condition afterward), but it’ll leave your hair fresh and ready to be braided down.
2. Add some color in. You’ll peep a gorgeous two-toned look in today’s style, and you can easily achieve a similar look on yourself with ombre braiding hair. You can go for the subtle, two-toned vibes as seen here, or go bold with a bright, in-your-face hue for a fun contrast.
3. Edge control is the move. Yes, you will want to try different baby hair looks while wearing these braids, which is where a healthy, moisturizing, non-drying edge control comes in. When styling your edges multiple times a week, use a hydrating formula (that’s also non-flaky) to minimize damage.
4. Go for moisture. A good leave-in conditioner spray will not only help moisturize your hair while it’s braided, but also keep your scalp from drying out. Plus, leave-in conditioners can also act as braid-maintenance product to keep flyaways in check. Just spray it on before wrapping your hair at night with a satin scarf, then wake up with smoother braids.
