Earlier this week, Meghan Markle stepped out with her husband Prince Harry for date night at the Lakers game in Los Angeles. Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex looked pretty in pink in a Staud short set. Just two days later, Variety broke the news that she had signed for representation with talent agency William Morris Endeavor (WME).
As WME wrote on Instagram, “We are honored to announce that WME now represents Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex in all areas. The agency will be focusing on building out her business ventures across multiple facets of the agency and its broader ecosystem, including film and television production, brand partnerships and more.”
Her team at WME will include Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel, Brad Slater, and Serena Williams’s agent Jill Smoller.
The inclusion of Jill Smoller on Meghan’s team makes sense, as Meghan has long been friends with Smoller through Serena Williams. Smoller has worked with Williams for decades, and later became friends with Meghan; she was even in attendance at Meghan and Harry’s royal wedding in 2018, and was featured in their Netflix documentary Meghan & Harry.
Yet, when thinking of Emanuel, could Meghan’s outfit earlier this week been a clue to her blockbuster WME news?
For context: Emanuel is married to designer Sarah Staudinger, founder of the brand Staud. The Lakers game earlier this week was the first time (to our knowledge) that the Duchess of Sussex has ever worn Staud—perhaps a nod to her new agent’s wife?
Whether or not the outfit was an Easter Egg for the news, Meghan and Harry’s appearance was notable amidst the lead-up to King Charles’s coronation—Harry will be in attendance sans Meghan and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
