Feeling Vengeful? Here Are 10 Movies like ‘Gone Girl’ to Feed Your Inner Villain

Nine years ago, the world changed for the better. David Fincher’s Gone Girl, an adaptation of the Gillian Flynn novel of the same name, was released. Starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike, the film follows the demise of the Dunne’s, a couple whose relationship was marked by manipulation and deception. Here’s the plot: On the day of their fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne finds that his wife, Amy Dunne, is missing. The situation is made increasingly fraught as the authorities turn their attention to Nick, whose strange behavior—coupled with a few dark diary entries from Amy—make him the prime suspect. Of course, everything is not as it seems.

Though we wish this movie went on for hours, it clocks in at just over two. Looking for more? Luckily, there is an entire catalog of films that match the Gone Girl vibe, and we’ve curated them. The threads that sew all these films together? Wealth, manipulation, and plot twists.

This 2006 psychological thriller comes from Christopher Nolan, the man behind Oppenheimer, and stars Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, and Scarlett Johansson. The film follows a feud between two magicians in 1890s London whose rivalry is sewn by a stage trick gone fatally wrong. Like Gone Girl, The Prestige is twisty, so there’s not much more we can say without spoiling greatness.
