George, Charlotte, and Louis Steal the Spotlight Once Again at Trooping the Colour

George, Charlotte, and Louis Steal the Spotlight Once Again at Trooping the Colour

It was another adorable appearance from the Cambridge kids at Trooping the Colour on June 17 in London. Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, all attended the celebration of the sovereign’s birthday — the first such event for King Charles III. The siblings again rode in a horse-drawn carriage and waved from the balcony at Buckingham Palace alongside their parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Louis was a standout once again thanks to his hilarious reactions to the event. During the carriage ride, the 5-year-old held his nose, and later, on the balcony, he gave the crowd a salute before exiting with his parents and siblings.

George, Louis, and Charlotte partook in the carriage procession for the first time in 2022. (The royal trio watched from the balcony in years prior.) They each made their Trooping the Colour debuts at just a year old. George and Charlotte first appeared in 2015 and 2016, respectively, and Louis joined his siblings in 2019.

Last year’s parade, held on June 2, coincided with the Platinum Jubilee celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the throne. The monarch passed away months later at age 96, and her son was officially crowned on May 6 of this year, with George acting as one of the pages of honor at the royal ceremony.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (along with their children, 4-year-old Prince Archie and 2-year-old Princess Lilibet) did not attend Trooping the Colour amid their strained relationship with the royal family. The couple attended last year in a more private capacity, and they didn’t participate in the official procession. Harry also recently appeared at his father’s coronation following much speculation, but he was notably absent from other surrounding outings.

Trooping the Colour comes shortly after Louis had his first official royal engagement on May 8. The youngest child, whose nickname is Lou-Bugs, joined his parents and siblings for a Big Help Out volunteer event, where he helped renovate a hut for a scout group in Slough, England.
