Heartstopper fans have been very excited to see a lot of their favorite characters get more screen time and some brand-new storylines in the show’s second season, especially when it comes to Isaac. The usually quiet bookworm got more of a chance to shine as he paused his reads every so often and also had a love interest of his own. But it’s the big reveal about himself and how he gets there that has a lot of fans curious about what is going to happen to him in season 3 as he discovers more about himself.

Is Isaac asexual in Heartstopper?
Throughout the show’s second season, it looks like Isaac is trying to figure out his sexuality and where he falls on the spectrum. Ultimately, he realizes that he falls within the ace side when he see the art piece at Elle’s art show in episode 7 of season 2. In the season finale, Isaac heads over to the school library after hours and grabs a book called, Ace: What Asexuality Reveals About Desire, Society, and the Meaning of Sex.

Alice Oseman, the original creator of Heartstopper and the show’s writer also confirmed it back in the show’s first season after a fan tweeted at her writing, “So do we all agree Isaac has BIG aroace vibes, yes or yes? Not accepting criticism at this time, but @AliceOseman, I would love to know of this was intended????”
“This was intended! i’m very glad you got the vibes,” Alice replied.
Will we see more of his journey in season 3?
Director Euros Lyn has confirmed that we’ll definitely see more of Isaac on his journey of figuring out his sexuality as the Heartstopper story continues.
“It was really great to shoot with Tobie, because he plays it with such vulnerability,” Lyn told Digital Spy. “For Isaac, discovering this isn’t the answer to all his questions; discovering this new identity is the beginning of a much more complicated journey that he’ll go on in the future.”
