Meghan Is Planning a “Low-Key” Birthday Party for Archie the Day of the Coronation

For anyone not totally up-to-date on the royal family coronation drama, Prince Harry is attending, but Meghan Markle is not. While Harry is across the pong supporting his dad and (probably) being awkwardly avoided by most of his blood relatives, Meghan will be back at the couple’s home in Montecito, California, along with their kids, Archie and Lilibet.

Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet have a built-in distraction from the headlines that are sure to follow every photo op Harry is spotted at, since the coronation happens to fall on Archie’s fourth birthday (May 6, if you need to mark a calendar real quick). How will Meghan and the lil’ Sussexes celebrate the occasion, you ask? Well, you’re in luck, because a royal insider just happened to spill some of that exact flavor of royal tea.

“Meghan is planning something really low-key to celebrate Archie’s birthday,” the anonymous insider told Us Weekly of Meghan’s plans for Archie’s bday party. “Since Harry won’t be able to attend, she just wants to do something intimate with family and a few very close friends.”

The only confirmed name on the guest list (that is, confirmed by the royal source to the commoner masses reading about the party) is Meghan’s mom, Doria Ragland. But, since even the most low-key and intimate family get-togethers would include the grandparent-who-is-local-and-who-the-Sussexes-are-on-great-terms-with, this barely qualifies as news, even to total royal outsiders.

Although Meghan is reportedly not planning anything “over the top” for the celebration, that does not mean she’s not high-key hit by the milestone, emotionally speaking.

“She can’t believe he’s turning 4 already,” the insider added. “It feels like the years have flown by. She loves being a mom and can’t wait to celebrate her little boy’s special day.”

A picture from that celebration of Archie’s special day would be a great gift to the rest of us (and would definitely distract at least a little from headlines speculating about what Harry’s coronation body language/outfit choices/general aura tells us about his various feuds with various relatives, since such headlines have to get so, so old for the Sussexes). Just putting that out there.
