It already seemed very, very safe to assume that King Charles’ coronation was not the long-awaited Moment When the Royal Feud Magically Ends.
Not only did Prince Harry’s (in?)famously brief trip to the UK to attend the actually crowning portion of his dad’s coronation celebration not prove to be the visit where the royals all put aside their differences and end their feud (you know, the visit fans of the royal family/humans not hating each other in general have been daydreaming about for literally years now), but it might have actually made things worse. Or maybe things are the same as they already were, but the anonymous friends and insiders who give gossipy updates about the royals have just gotten more comfortable speculating about how much worse things are going to get in the future, which makes the present instantly *feel* worse.
Either way, new comments a source described as a “friend of Prince William’s” shared with the Daily Beast make the future of Harry’s feud with the rest of the royals seem pretty much indefinitely 😳. Why? Because Will and his wife, Kate Middleton, are pretty firmly/permanently anti-Harry, it seems.
“It’s very clear that William and Kate are now extremely important members of the institution, so their view on Harry, which is basically the further away the better, will have to be taken into account,” the source said. “Put it this way: I don’t think anyone expects Harry to get an invite to William’s coronation.”
The Daily Beast sources also claimed that the plan from Will and Kate and King Charles is now to keep Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, at a “distance” now that the coronation is over.
“The opportunity that was there for Harry to sort this out with the king is gone for now,” a source described as a friend of Charles and his wife, Camilla, told the outlet. “Of course, Charles would always welcome a reconciliation with Harry and Meghan, he has made that very clear, and his door is always open in that regard. But now the coronation is done, I think Charles will want to focus on the job of being king, rather than to continue being distracted by Harry and Meghan drama.”
Tl;dr: The royal family’s feud with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is still going strong and might literally never end. So…there’s that.
