If you’re missing the humorous but painfully accurate eat-the-rich commentary that White Lotus and The Menu provided last year, then look no further than Alexis Schaitkin’s novel-turned-miniseries, Saint X. It’s 2005 and the Thomas family—father Bill, mother Mia, 18-year-old Alison, and seven-year-old Claire—are vacationing in the Caribbean when the college-bound Alison mysteriously disappears for days until her body is found. Cut to the present where Claire, who now goes by Emily, is desperately searching for answers.
Saint X gives Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers energy. It follows the rich-people-have-so-may-problems narrative but—to give the show its props—it takes the missing white girl syndrome and adds some nuance. Which is precisely why I’ll be watching.
As a personal injustice to me, Hulu decided to *not* release all the episodes of this show at once. I can only assume it’s because me and Hulu are still beefing over that Kindred cancellation. (Kidding, but I do still spam them on Instagram for that, so that’s my theory lol). Don’t worry though, because this episode release guide should help clear things up.
