As TikTok user @venusdaydreams pointed out, Taylor’s seemingly-random moment actually has a direct connection to Matty, who appeared to mouth the exact same thing on stage during The 1975’s May 3 concert in the Philippines.

The video’s caption captured Swifities’ general confusion about this whole situation—from if Taylor and Matty are *really* a thing to how they feel about that if they are: “this is either a hilarious com[m]ittment to the bit, super romantic, or my worst nightmare!”

The clips could certainly be interpreted as evidence that the rumors about Taylor and Matty coupling up are accurate. While neither of them have commented publicly (at least not out loud?) on the rumors, a source recently told Page Six that they’re not *not* feeling romantic. “It’s super-early days, but it feels right,” the insider claimed. “They first dated, very briefly, almost 10 years ago but the timings just didn’t work out.”

FWIW, Taylor’s rendition of the silent secret message came during “Cardigan,” which is well-established fiction and was not written about Matty—at least not originally/explicitly (although it’s always possible that it now reminds her of him or that some lingering feeling about him from their rumored near-connection in 2014 helped inspire the track).

Not all fans are convinced that Taylor and Matty are legitimately dating at all, though, and think their recent public flirtations are just promo for an upcoming collab—potentially on a vault track from Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).
