On today’s Cosmo Queens we were joined by the NYC-based drag performer Hibiscus, who was essentially born for the stage. She told us, “I love performing […] All that was missing was the makeup, wig, and heels so [drag] came naturally. What pushed me to pursue it as a career is learning the Queer culture, where drag comes from, and the need to represent more BIPOC AAPI Queens.”
If today’s video is any clue, Hibiscus is def thriving in this chosen career path. I mean she oozes star power! Case in point: Her final look today consisted of a whole lot of gems, rainbow eye makeup, and a mullet. She looked ready to walk right off our set and onto the Grammys red carpet or something.

This rockstar energy is really nothing new for Hibiscus, who has always sought inspo from the big names. “My performance is definitely inspired by pop artists I’ve dreamed to dance for growing up like Britney Spears, Madonna, Paula Abdul, Janet Jackson, and major girl groups.” Check out the full video to see how Hibiscus’s glam rocker vision came together!
