Several celebrities are using the 2022 Academy Awards to share their support for the current Ukraine refugee crisis.
Jaime Lee Curtis, Diane Warren, and Yuh-Jung Youn are some of the celebrities who were seen wearing blue ribbons while walking down the red carpet for the big award show. The hashtag #WithRefugees are written on the front in white.

The ribbons are a partnership with the celebs and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, which hopes to bring more awareness to the current refugee crisis particularly as Ukrainian citizens flee the Russian invasion.
The agency tweeted out the hashtag and posted a photo featuring an award with the caption, “And the #Oscars for the best refugee advocate goes to… everyone who stands #WithRefugees. Thank you for your kindness.”

There’s no word on how many celebrities were asked to take part in this campaign, but many of them are stepping out and showing their support any way they can.
The United States government has recently agreed to accept 100,000 Ukrainian refugees, according to The New York Times.
Prior to the ceremony, CNN reported that Oscars producers revealed that they would “respectfully acknowledge” the current crisis in Ukraine during the show.
“This is a really [momentous] time in humankind history, and we’re very aware of that,” producer Will Packer said. “And so you don’t go into a show like this, I don’t think, and not be aware of that and not find a way to respectfully acknowledge where we are and how fortunate we are to even be able to put on this show.”
