‘9-1-1: Lone Star’ Fans Say Rob Lowe Needs “Protecting at All Costs” on Instagram

As Rob Lowe portrays a firefighter on 9-1-1: Lone Star, his character often finds himself in dangerous situations. But according to his son John Owen Lowe (who he shares with wife Sheryl Berkoff), he may need to protect himself in real-life as well.

In a photo uploaded on John Owen’s Instagram on June 15, the Unstable actors posed for a selfie while on what appeared to be a family vacation. The image featured the father-son duo standing in front of an island while going shirtless and wearing matching pairs of sunglasses. But as the two often love to roast each other online, John Owen couldn’t post the picture without firing shots at his old man.

“Feeling charitable,” he joked in the caption. “Decided to spend a few days babysitting this senior citizen.” He further emphasized the joke by tagging AARP, an organization dedicated to providing various forms of benefits to people over the age of 50.

While John Owen was just making a hilarious quip about his dad being older than him, it didn’t stop fans from commenting about him and Rob. What’s more, some even offered to share the “babysitting” load with John Owen in order to spend time with The West Wing alum.

“Protect him at all costs,” one person wrote in the Instagram comments section. “There are PLENTY of people who would take him off of your hands,” a different follower jested. “I mean, I can babysit for him if you’re too busy!! 😂😂😂,” another added.

While Rob and John Owen definitely seem to have a humorous parental relationship, the two do share emotional moments with one another. During an April appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Rob presented his son with his five-year sobriety chip while declaring how proud he was of John Owen for his journey.

“Johnny’s five-year birthday was on Saturday,” Rob explained at the time. “And Johnny, I want to give you your five-year chip. I love you. I’m proud of you.”

“I’m speechless,” John Owen responded. “I usually have a witty retort. I don’t have one for that. That was very nice of you.”
