Billie Eilish Is a Streetwear “Barbie” in This Polarizing Y2K Outfit

Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” world premiere saw an incredibly exciting assortment of looks that packed more of a punch with each celebrity arrival. Billie Eilish, who is one of the artists featured on the film’s soundtrack (she wrote a song called “What Was I Made For?” alongside brother Finneas), flaunted one of the most unique takes on Barbiecore fashion. Sticking to her signature aesthetic of streetwear that’s slightly offbeat, the 21-year-old musician sported a pinstripe shirt with a bright satin tie; baggy, cropped trousers that gave way to thick baby pink ribbed socks and chunky peach ERL sneakers; and a flamingo patent purse from Vivienne Westwood that she swung in the air while posing for pictures. Eilish accessorized with her usual assortment of silver chunky rings, ball-shaped metal earrings, and a varsity letter blanket that she folded up to tote along the way. She wore her long, dark hair pin-straight with her bangs falling over her brows, and she chose a glossy, strawberry-pink lip color.

Of course, Margot Robbie, 33, and Ryan Gosling, 42, also attracted plenty of attention, rocking custom Schiaparelli and Gucci, respectively. Robbie’s look was yet another re-creation of a glamour doll from 1960, as she continues through her meticulously curated press tour wardrobe at the hands of stylist Andrew Mukamal. Meanwhile, Gosling’s own chain-link necklace was completed with an “E” pendant in the classic Barbie font — an ode to his supportive wife Eva Mendes.

Dua Lipa’s custom Bottega Veneta naked dress, Issa Rae’s fuchsia Marc Bouwer number with a boob window cutout, and Karrueche’s bold and empowering sunshine-yellow Christian Siriano set are just a few more mentionables from the July 9 “Barbie” premiere, which was held at Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in LA. Ahead, you can click through the full lineup and find every outfit detail you’re itching for.
