In case you’re in the .001 percent of people who didn’t hear this news when it broke on Saturday: Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have broken up after six years together. This shocker originally came from Entertainment Tonight, was then confirmed by People, and now CNN is out here with a source confirming the split—who shed some some more light on what happened. In short: nothing dramatic.
“Taylor and Joe broke up a few weeks ago,” CNN’s source said. “They simply grew apart and plan to remain friends.”
This follows ET’s report that the split was “not dramatic,” and that “the relationship had just run its course. It’s why [Alwyn] hasn’t been spotted at any shows.”
People also noted that Taylor added a breakup song to her Eras Tour set list (specifically “The 1”) and cut “Invisible String,” which is largely believed to be about Joe. Here are some lyrics from “The 1” for you to read into:

Neither Taylor nor Joe have confirmed their split, but just a few weeks ago a mutual friend told People that Joe would be visiting Taylor on the Eras Tour, saying “Joe will travel with her when he can,. They are great together. Joe is super supportive of her career.”
