Tom Bergeron marked a personal milestone with his wife Lois, but it also came with some surprising complications.
On May 23, the former Dancing With the Stars host posted on Instagram that the longtime couple celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary. As he uploaded a throwback photo of them on their wedding day — May 22, 1982, to be exact — Tom revealed that their plans to honor the occasion didn’t exactly go as planned. Instead of doing something romantic, he spent the day in the hospital recovering several ailments. Still, he didn’t miss the opportunity to give Lois a heartfelt tribute.
“We spent our 41st anniversary yesterday at the @santaynez Hospital (great staff, btw) with yours truly being treated for food poisoning and a bruised rib (it’s a long story 🤦🏻😏),” he captioned the post. “Home & resting now and reminded again of how lucky I am that, 41 years ago, she said, ‘I do.'”
When folks saw the sentimental note Tom wrote for Lois, they immediately sent celebratory words while also sharing get well wishes with the America’s Funniest Home Videos alum.
“Gorgeous and happy anniversary to you beautiful couple ❤️ feel better soon!” one person wrote in the comments on Instagram. “Ah man! Hope you feel better! And can’t wait to hear that story. Lol. ❤️🩹,” another added. “Happy Anniversary!! Hope you are on the mend! ❤️,” a different follower said.
Because it’s not often Tom shares his private life online, people adored seeing him honor Lois on such a public forum. The last time people saw the couple together on Instagram was when he acknowledged their 40th wedding anniversary in May 2022, joking that she “still puts up with him” four decades later. During their marriage, they also welcomed daughters Jessica and Samantha, per Us Weekly.
Tom also credited Lois for making him a more joyous man throughout the course of their relationship. “Lois and I know we’re better together than solo,” he remarked to Closer Weekly in April 2018.
We’re wishing Tom a speedy recovery, during which Lois will be right by his side!
