Premiering on June 27, streaming service Peacock will debut an original six-part docu-series titled Golden: The Journey of USA’s Elite Gymnasts which follows Olympic gold medalist Laurie Hernandez, Morgan Hurd, Sunisa Lee, Konnor McClain, and MyKayla Skinner as they compete for a Team USA spot at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. As the series follows these Tokyo Olympics hopefuls, commentary from elite gymnastics industry experts and athletes is interwoven with behind-the-scenes footage of the gymnasts training, competitions, and more.

“You’ll see the levels of anxiety, the level of pressure, the physical tolls that it takes,” three-time Olympian and executive producer of Golden: The Journey of USA’s Elite Gymnasts Dominique Dawes said to POPSUGAR.

Knowing that this “eye-opening” project would be something that “fans would embrace” Dawes aka Awesome Dawesome was “completely on-board” to become the executive producer for the docu-series after production company, Uninterrupted, co-founder LeBron James approached her about producing this series. As she says “everything he touches becomes golden.”
