Halle Bailey Wore a Dress That Looked Just Like Splashing Water at ‘The Little Mermaid’ Premiere

Disney’s live action The Little Mermaid hits theaters this month, and despite how you may or may not feel about Flounder (still processing, personally), there’s no denying that Halle Bailey is absolutely flawless as Ariel. Like, can I please direct your attention to this clip of her singing “Part of Your World”? Her vocals! Chills!!!!!!

ANYWAY, Halle showed up for the movie’s premiere last night looking like an IRL Disney princess in a stunning liquid dress by Valdrin Sahiti that couldn’t have been more perfect for the movie’s vibes. Like, it’s basically the Little Mermaid splash-out-of-the-water scene (you know the one) but in gown form. Behold:

Back in February, Halle chatted about what makes the live action Little Mermaid different from its animated predecessor during an interview with the Today show, saying “What’s beautiful about this version of The Little Mermaid is that it’s a lot more modern. When I saw it, when we were younger, she gave up everything for the guy. But I don’t think [that] reflects modern women today. So [now] it’s more about Ariel finding freedom for herself because of this world that she’s obsessed with.”

Halle added that Ariel’s love interest Prince Eric “is a cherry on top. But it’s not all about him.”

Love to hear it. Oh, and in case you missed it, Halle was asked by The Cut if she had to eat Flounder or Sebastian who she’d choose (help) and said “I would not eat either of them! They’re my friends!” Just in case you were wondering!
