Kaitlyn Bristowe Shares Crying Selfie as Jason Tartick Says He’s “Heartbroken” Amid Breakup

After weeks of speculation, Bachelor Nation couple Kaitlyn Bristowe and Jason Tartick announced that they’re ending their engagement. The former couple shared a joint statement on Instagram Sunday night, and also took to their Instagram Stories to reveal how (understandably!) emotional they are.

Kaitlyn posted a crying selfie, asked fans to pray for both her and Jason’s hearts, and explained that she’s taking a break from social media:

Meanwhile, Jason said he was heartbroken and asked fans to be kind as they both healed from the split:

Kaitlyn and Jason didn’t go into the reason for their breakup, but did tell fans they’ll be co-raising their dogs.

“After sharing the news with family and close friends first, and taking the time to properly process it ourselves, we are saddened with heavy hearts to share that we have decided to end our engagement,” they wrote in a joint statement on Sunday night. “We are thankful for all of you who gave us the time and space to process this life altering decision as there are many emotions and changes to navigate. Our dogs Ramen & Pinot will continue to be cared for together as brothers. While their humans are no longer romantically involved, we will love and take care of them together.”

Kaitlyn and Jason also noted that continuing their friendship is “incredibly important,” and said they “feel grateful to be ending our engagement with love and respect for each other. It’s heartbreaking and sad to say goodbye, but our care and admiration for one another will never die.”

They ended their statement saying, “We don’t know what the future holds so please try to hold space for us in your hearts.”
