Beyoncé Delivers a 101 on Power Suits Via a Plaid Short-Shorts Set

So far, Beyoncé’s worldwide Renaissance tour has seen the superstar wear plenty of dazzling custom-made costumes from the likes of Alexander McQueen, Loewe, David Koma, Coperni, and Courrèges. But her off-duty style between shows is just as impressive.

On Instagram today, the multi-hyphenate shared a glimpse of an outfit she wore after touching down in London. The brown plaid set is a remake of a look first seen in Michael Kors’s fall 2022 ready-to-wear collection. Though the runway originally debuted a jumpsuit, Beyoncé’s version reimagines the piece as a short-shorts playsuit. The bodice includes lapels plunging into a deep V-neckline and black buttons, while the bottoms feature pintucked shorts. She wore the look with a matching blazer, a small black purse, and caramel pumps. She kept her jewelry simple, opting for dangling gold statement earrings.

Husband Jay-Z made a rare cameo in the Instagram post. He posed alongside her looking casual yet stylish in a black T-shirt, a long black jacket, cream trousers, a black beanie, and black shades.

Beyoncé—who released her seventh studio album, Renaissance, last July—teased the record in an interview for Harper’s BAZAAR’s September 2021 cover story.

“With all the isolation and injustice over the past year, I think we are all ready to escape, travel, love, and laugh again. I feel a renaissance emerging, and I want to be part of nurturing that escape in any way possible,” she said. “I’ve been in the studio for a year and a half. Sometimes it takes a year for me to personally search through thousands of sounds to find just the right kick or snare. One chorus can have up to 200 stacked harmonies. Still, there’s nothing like the amount of love, passion, and healing that I feel in the recording studio. After 31 years, it feels just as exciting as it did when I was nine years old. Yes, the music is coming!”
