The internet is still recovering from Kylie Jenner showing up at the Schiaparelli Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2023 show with a giant lion’s head attached to her dress. But the best part of this instantly iconic moment? When Kylie was sitting in the front row and Irina Shayk wandered down the runway in pretty much her exact same outfit. Which was presumably planned, but Kylie’s face told another story and the Twitter can’t deal:
Saving the best for last:
FYI that Kylie and Irina’s lion head dresses caused controversy despite being faux, with some critics saying they were glamorize big game hunting. However, PETA entered the chat yesterday with a statement saying that the looks “celebrate the beauty of wild animals and may be a statement against trophy hunting, in which lions and wolves are torn apart to satisfy human egotism.”
Meanwhile, Irina also defended her dress on Instagram, saying “I support these incredible artists who worked tirelessly, with their hands, using wool, silk, and foam, to sculpt this embroidered Lion, and image of Pride, An image that @schiaparelli invokes while exploring themes of strength. I am honored to have been called on as well to lend my art as a woman to this @danielroseberry 🖤”
Kylie hasn’t said anything in response to critics, but she did make it clear that the lion’s head was fake in her own Instagram caption, writing “BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. thank you @danielroseberry and @schiaparelli for such a special morning. wow i loved wearing this faux art creation constructed by hand using manmade materials. beautiful beautiful 🦁🦁🫶🏻.”
