Sydney Sweeney Finally Addresses Those False Glen Powell Romance Rumors

Remember a couple months ago when *those* dating rumors involving Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell started circulating after pics of them filming their upcoming rom-com Anyone But You went viral? Well, Sydney finally addressed the fuss in an interview with Variety, and she’s laughing it off like a champ.

“It’s a rom-com,” she said. “That’s what people want! Glen and I don’t really care. We have so much fun together, and we respect each other so much.”

Sydney doesn’t let the rumors bother her and may even lean into the narrative a little bit. “They want it. It’s fun to give it to them,” she teased.

But as much as she doesn’t care about the rumors, Sydney admitted that watching false narratives about herself spread online more generally is not the easiest. “Sometimes I feel beat up by it,” she confessed. “It’s hard to sit back and watch and not be able to stand up for yourself.”

Important FYI: Sydney actually has a fiancé! While the actor’s chemistry with Glen is off the charts on camera, in real life she’s in a relationship with Jonathan Davino.

Despite Sydney’s actual relationship being public knowledge, Sydney and Glen romance rumors started swirling when paparazzi pics published, featuring a shirtless Glen and bikini-clad Sydney laughing and having fun together on a boat while filming in Australia. And the fan obsession escalated when Sydney called Glen by the nickname she gave him at CinemaCon 2023.

“We love seeing ourselves on the big screen,” Glen joked, to which Sydney replied, “Oh please, Top Gun.”

“I love when she calls me that,” smiled the Top Gun: Maverick star.

The internet also went wild with assumptions when Sydney posted a photo dump to her Instagram featuring a few selfies of her and Glen.

Even with all the talk, Sydney and Glen don’t let the rumors get between their friendship. She confirmed the two are still besties. “We’re excited for the press tour, and I literally just left ADR with him. We talk all the time like, ‘That’s really funny.'”

Moral of the story: Sydney keeps her work relationships strictly professional, people!
