These days, it seems like skin care has become wickedly expensive. Yes, I love my $100 face moisturizer, but why does it have to be so pricey? That’s why I’m always on the hunt for products that do the job without draining my bank account, which is how I stumbled across the CosRx AHA 2 BHA 2 Blemish Treatment Serum ($15). It’s all the proof I needed that affordable skin-care products really can work.

In fact, this targeted acne treatment cleared up my blemishes after one use, so it’s safe to say I’m now a customer for life. But my favorite part has to be the packaging. Instead of coming in droplet or pump form like most facial serums on the market, this one is actually soaked in individually compressed cotton balls. How fun is that? My hormonal acne absorbed it right up.

About the CosRx AHA 2 BHA 2 Blemish Treatment Serum

  • The serum is drenched in individually compressed cotton balls for easy application.
  • It is formulated with 2% alpha hydroxy acids (specifically glycolic acid) and 2 % beta hydroxy acids (salicylic acid), which exfoliate the skin and unclog pores.
  • There are 60 cotton balls in each container, which can be used as a spot treatment at the end of your skin-care routine.

What I Like About CosRx’s AHA 2 BHA 2 Blemish Treatment Serum

Again, the packaging is innovative and makes applying an acne treatment fun (which, anyone with breakouts knows, is quite the feat). Once you pop off the sealing film on the container, you’re met with individually soaked, 100 percent pure cotton balls, but they’re mini. Each one is drenched in the serum formulated with glycolic acid and salicylic acid, which is a match made in heaven for those of us with or whiteheads and blackheads.

My pores are most pronounced around my nose, and it’s also where a majority of my blemishes make their appearance. I went into this trial not really knowing what to expect, but after just a few uses, I noticed a difference in my skin’s blemishes and texture. My spots seemed to have faded overnight. And after using the spot treatment for a few nights, it seems like the treatment was able to bring the gunk up and out of my skin, which is perfect for me since I try to avoid picking my face at all costs.

How to Use CosRx’s AHA 2 BHA 2 Blemish Treatment Serum

The brand recommends using the serum at the end of your skin-care routine, but they also note that it can work as the first step — it’s completely up to you. It makes the most sense to me to use it at the end, so that’s what I did. After cleansing, toning, and moisturizing my skin, I picked up the itty-bitty tong and grabbed a mini cotton ball. It’s so tiny and cute, just FYI.

From there, I dabbed the cotton ball onto my blemishes, which were mostly around my nose, on my chin, and a couple on my forehead. Since I used this at night, I didn’t need to go in with a sunscreen, but if you plan on using it in the morning, make sure to follow it up with some SPF since exfoliating products can make your skin more susceptible to sunburn. Otherwise, that’s it. It’s super user-friendly and takes just a few seconds to apply.

What to Consider Before Trying CosRx’s AHA 2 BHA 2 Blemish Treatment Serum

If you have acne-prone skin or just experience blemishes here and there, I can’t recommend this product enough. It’s gentle while still working hard enough to do its thing. Still, if you have extremely sensitive skin, I’d recommend doing a patch test first to make sure the exfoliating ingredients don’t cause a reaction. Also, because this is a spot treatment, it might not be the best course of action of severe or hormonal acne. Talk with your dermatologist to see if this is a good option to incorporate into your treatment plan.

As for me, I’ve never seen a serum quite like this — COSRX, you’re onto something here.
